Hi there! My name is Nina and my husbands name is Brian. These are our three dogs Juno, Snowy and the little one in my bag is Coco.
We live on three acres on the Kenai Peninsula of Alaska where we fish for salmon in summer to add to our winter pantry, grow our own garden and raise rabbits and chickens.
We’ve lived on our homestead almost six years. When we bought this place it was an empty pallet ready for our creative vision. There was literally nothing but a house and a shed. I can’t believe what we’ve already accomplished in six years but there’s still so much we want to do!
I’m a wife, mother of three beautiful daughters, a grandmother of six and a chicken mom. Brian is an artist, retired Navy and chief builder on the homestead. This has been a huge dream of ours to raise animals and to garden on our own land.
I learned so much from my grandparents being on their farm when I was young and have added my own acquired skills over the years like soap making, pressure canning, sourdough bread baking and fermenting. I’m still learning though. There have been setbacks and great strides but growth is really the point of it all, isn’t it?
We preserve our own food mostly in shelf stable ways because we lose our power in winter. We really enjoy knowing our food is healthy and where it comes from.
I can’t wait to share this amazing experience with you and bring you along as we continue our journey.
Welcome to our Homestead.
